Patrick & Kyra Daunt
Hey guys! We’re Pat and Kyra Daunt and we are so grateful that we get to share our hearts for Faith Night In with you. We understand the importance of taking time to invest in our relationship. But most often, when we have the chance, we’d rather power down, spend an evening in front of the TV screen, or go out for dinner and unload our list of stresses on each other and call it a date. It’s rarely at the forefront of our minds to spend quality time strengthening the foundation of our relationship. It doesn’t exactly sound like a Friday night- good time. This is why we really wanted to find a way to merge the two; to bring a little romance and laughter to our discussions about faith- because it’s such an important part of our relationship!
We are by no means marriage experts. I grew up as a pastor’s daughter. I adopted my parents faith at an early age and I thought I had it all figured out by the time I was 18. Pat and I met; we dated for a while and were engaged through 5 grueling years of a long distance military relationship. In this season of life, God choose to teach us that cookie-cutter faith, handed down from my parents, couldn’t be farther from what true faith looked like. True faith is a living, breathing, relationship; one that requires nurturing. He wanted to show us that in our relationship, as we stepped out in faith, He could do miraculous things - heal wounds, restore confidence, align our focus and bless us beyond measure.
Throughout the past 10 years of dating each other, God has patiently watched us build our foundation on rocky ground, allowed it to crumble, has lifted us up and has been building us back up on solid ground. We still have our struggles but we are having more fun than ever dating with purpose. We are learning how to love each other deeper and put God first and we are enjoying every step of the journey. Now, as we are looking toward the birth of our first child this December, we know that we will have to work even harder to put our relationship first.
Faith Night In is showing us that dating with purpose can bring lasting joy into our relationship and I know that it can do the same for you! That’s right; I’m saying it can be fun to talk about your feelings! God is working in our marriage and He wants to do the same for you.
Our hope and prayer for you is that through FNI, you will find joy in taking back date night and drawing closer to the heart of Jesus.
